as Judas travels across North America, he is documenting the people, places, and moments that shape the journey, translating them into artist-driven works with the habit.us collective.
this page will serve as a living archive of those projects.
(this section will be updated with fresh news as the trek develops as capacity allows.
leg 1 - bicycling
toronto
this was my first time in Toronto and Canada. during my time there, i stayed at The Only Backpacker's Inn on Danforth Ave. Danforth Ave is a busy street filled with restaurants and markets from every corner of the world. during this time, i felt quite disoriented, and i was mostly occupied with prepping for the trek, doing things like building the bike, making this website, and announcing the project on instagram. it’s a lot of work, and we want to do our best to share this journey with you. i did get to talk to some of the folks about how they felt about immigration policies within North America. they mostly felt that the current administration was on the wrong side of history with its decisions and felt frustrated about the way the United States has led a fear-centered media push through manipulation and unprecedented reaches of executive power. i also got to finally meet the folks at One Piece A Day, which is a is a global environmental initiative that promotes environmental awareness and sustainability by encouraging every person on the planet to refuse single use plastics, reduce waste, and pick up one piece of trash a day while logging their progress in an app. So cool!
toronto is one of the centers of immigration in the world. the culture is brilliant, and the dynamic between the folks there seemed functional. i’d need to go back to get a better idea of the underlying challenges and successes of a city like toronto, but i felt safe in this artistic and thriving city :)

toronto scans
instead of just using a camera, judas captures the essence of the cities and towns he moves through using a MUNBYN portable scanner. the quintessence of a place is often found in the small things. we encourage you to visit and experience these places for yourself if possible. until then, here’s a lil’ texture.

Second day i worked at a church turned cafe called the Cathedral where i ran into the only other person i knew in the city of Detroit. They invited me over to a small grassroots letterpress org called Small Works so after catching up on computer work i biked 45 minutes to to Small works and learned got to meet so many cool people. they were making anti ICE zines for immagrants. i got to scan the place with my portable scanner.
day 3 conisited of rest and work.
The final day Yuri and i scanned each other and his house with the portable scanner as i prepared for my time away from Detroit. I went Grocery Shoppin, Planned my Route, Took my final Shower. Things like that. We also went to Yemens again for Dinner :)
